The Zone Diet is What Exactly?

There are always plenty of people who are trying their best to lose weight at any given time. The Y2mate number of plans, methods and means to achieve it seem to become ever more abundant over time. This is making life increasingly confusing for those who are constantly bombarded by this or that great new way to lose weight. Sifting through all the media hype and separating the wheat from the chaff is no easy task, but it helps if you know what certain of the more popular diet plans or weight loss strategies are all about before you jump head first into them.

One such popular weight loss method is known as The Zone Diet, which is a combined diet plan and healthy lifestyle primer that was created by former Massachusetts Institute of Technology researcher, Barry Sears, PhD and its co-author, Bill Lawren. Let’s take a closer look at just exactly what this particular diet and weight loss plan is all about and see just how it is meant to work for those who are looking for tried and tested ways to lose weight.

As already stated, the Zone Diet is more than a simple diet sheet containing a list of healthy foods that you should eat to shed a few pounds. It actually promotes living a healthy lifestyle by combining the precepts laid out in its diet criteria with a strategy for exercising regularly and enjoying life as it was meant to be enjoyed.

The Zone Diet itself is nothing exceptionally groundbreaking or out of the ordinary. It is more of a sensible, down to earth set of rules than anything. It advocates the sensible division of your meals into its three basic groups, which are carbohydrates, protein and fats. The ratio recommended of these is 40% carbohydrates, 30% protein and 30% fats. By including all the major food groups rather than

eliminating any one of them, this diet ensures that the body gets its full spread of nutrients and vitamins through food and does away with the thinking that by excluding any one major group, say carbohydrates, from you diet you will lose weight. Meals are therefore balanced and not lacking in anything the body needs for normal functioning. Of course, the individual items of foods that are then laid out from these categories are naturally low in calories. This is to prevent your body from exceeding the number of calories that it can normally burn through the exercise that the plan advocates to ensure that users have the best chance of losing weight.

Daily exercise is of course recommended to improve the body’s fitness levels. This works to also boost the metabolism and result in the burning of more calories than it consumes. The result is that you start to use your body’s stored fat, leading to the loss of the extra weight while at the same time you are toning up your muscles and improving your body shape.
